So I’m always pretty psyched when a brand that we sell has some values behind their business. In this world of mass produced crap, it’s a good thing when a clothing designer takes the time to say, “Whoa there partner! Let’s make cool design but in an ethical way!”
Whether it’s Toggery’s commitment to organic cotton or the decision of Fortnight and Brulee to be made in Canada and NYC respectively, there is a conscious effort with many up and coming designers to make pieces that make sense to the world at large. I for one really admire these guys!
Which brings us to the LA based brand Undrest. In their tagline, they refer to themselves as “ethically produced fashion.” Artisanally crafted in the USA – more specifically in California – this brand has clearly decided to put their values first when creating gorgeous lounge, sleep and lingerie. This is why the pieces are more expensive… luxury, in this case, is in the cost of producing the fabric and the garments in the US.
The initial reason, however, that I fell for Undrest was due to the great design and gorgeous colors. Everyone knows that neons and bright colors have been popular this spring and Undrest doesn’t disappoint with highlighter green triangle bras or salmon colored knickers. The feminine details – like ruffles or strategically placed bows– really set a pretty tone for each piece.
As for the best piece? It has to be the chemise! Anyone I know who has put the cotton nightie on has been in LOVE. It is so comfortable but so, so pretty. Personally, it makes me feel bedtime glam and it’s a piece that definitely catches the attention of my hubby in a simple, cool way – nothing overt, just lovely.
Who doesn’t need a little cotton nightie for the sweetest possible dreams?
