Hey all,
With our launch just around the corner we have been busy here at the byLangley headquarters and have slacked on blogging a little! We are sorry to all of our followers for our lack of blogs. Right now I am passing on blogging about lingerie because I want to write about my weekend storm chasing!
While everyone was leaving the east coast this past weekend I was on a plane headed into the action! I arrived in Boston on Friday night and somehow managed to convince my mom to drive to Cape Cod Saturday afternoon even though the storm was still expected to hit Cape Cod pretty hard! The best thing about about driving to the Cape when a storm was suppose to hit is that we hit no traffic! First time ever on a summer weekend! Yahoo! Spent the weekend having fun with my family!
Saturday night my cousins and I had a ‘Storm before the Calm’ Party drinking dark & stormy’s all night!
On Sunday we started our party off as a Hurricane Party. After a few tropical drinks we named, Irene’s we down graded our party again to a Really Windy Beach Day Party and spent the afternoon swimming!
Although we didn’t get slammed on Cape Cod…Ludlow, Vermont got hit pretty bad! Ludlow holds a special place in my heart so my thoughts are with them!
And then the day after ‘the storm’ a beautiful beach day!

Today I walked outside and I thought wow it is a gorgeous fall day on Nantucket. Then I was brought back to reality, I wasn’t on Nantucket and it wasn’t fall. It is still summer and I was in Pittsburgh, tear. It smelled like fall, it felt like fall and for some reason for a hot second I really did believe it was fall on Nantucket. Fall is hands down my favorite season and Nantucket is my favorite place to be during the fall.
I think that’s all about to change though. This year I am excited for fall to come in Pittsburgh. First because byLangley is launching and second Missoni is coming to Target. And do you know what that means…
I will be shopping at byLangley and buying things like this…
And then I will be the first in line at Target the day Missoni comes to stores buying this…
Pittsburgh look out…I’ll be biking to work in my new romper on my new bicycle!

I was lucky enough to video chat with my friend and her 1yr old daughter this morning. It was really fun, I watched her eat breakfast and then she was going to show me her toys. I hadn’t seen my friend yet until she picked up the computer to bring it in the other room so Brooke could show me all of her toys. As soon as I saw my friend I couldn’t stop focusing on her outfit! I was flabbergasted, appalled and embarrassed she was my friend all at the same time. She was wearing sworts, like jhorts but are made out of sweatpants. The conversation that followed went something like this…
me-“Ummmmmm are you wearing sweat-shorts?”
Her-“Yes.”
Me- “Why? Did you wear those things to bed?”
Her – “No, I didn’t wear them to bed. I just put them on. I’ve had them since 8th grade. They were the sweatpants I got in Vail and I cut them into shorts so they could be my dance pants.”
I couldn’t believe my ears! Not only was she wearing the most un-cool pair of sworts I have ever seen in my life but she has had them for 17 years! I thought to myself am I really friends with this girl?! I never thought she had a bad sense of style but these sworts really put the icing on the cake.
I can’t wait until we receive our Monrow order and I can buy her some new shorts, sweatpants, any kind of bottoms really. It doesn’t matter as long as I get her out of those sworts! Monrow has made sweatpants chic, stylish and flattering to wear.
We love the gold zippers that they added to the front of this pair…
Or these stylish and flattering inside-out pocket sweats…
And our favorite for holiday are their herringbone sweats…
Any of these are a far better option then my friends 17 year old sworts. Do you have a friend who wears sworts? If so you need to declare a fashion emergency and save her from embarrassing herself in public and buy her a pair of Monrow sweatpants. I know my friend will be receiving a pair of these for her birthday AND for Christmas! If buying her two pairs of new sweatpants isn’t enough of a sign to throw the sworts out, I don’t know what is! Although I do like saying the word, sworts are a DON’T in my book!

For months now, we at byLangley have been obsessing over our incoming products, which we cannot wait to begin selling in September! One item we especially love is anything silk, especially our silk pants. So when the girls over at the site “Who What Wear” recently did an entire post on silky pants and called them, “one of fall’s hottest fashion essentials,” we were more than happy and totally inspired to do a post of our own on the silk pants we will be selling. One of the reasons we love silk pants so much is not only because of their comfort but because of their versatility. Our silky pants and other silk products we carry are appropriate for not only sleep, but maybe a trip to the market or to run errands in. Why not be comfortable and stylish!
One of the silk pajama pants we’ll have on our site are the La Fee Verte Jacquard Pant in Olive. Now ladies, I’ve seen and felt these first hand and they are by far the most comfortable pant you could imagine. La Fee Verte also makes a pair of silk shorts in a beautiful navy/nude color as well as a number of other silk products we will be carrying.
Another is the Lake and Stars Printed Silk Chiffon Tap Pants, which are shorts but extremely versatile, and could definitely be worn in or outside of the bedroom, which is what byLangley is all about!
Here are some photos, enjoy!

This might be too much information for you out there, but I have always been a thong girl. Okay, not always. I was certainly not wearing diaper thongs, but this little gift from our Brazilian friends has definitely been my knicker of choice for the last 15 years or so. Although I have definitely grown to adore the boyshort in the last few years, the thong is just so easy. You never need to worry about VKL (visible knicker lines) and I think that the thong is extremely comfortable, especially the ones by Commando.
Recently, however, my love for the thong has gone by the wayside and I am addicted to boyshorts and bikinis. Summer is the time for skirts and dresses and therefore also a bit more coverage of my derriere. Commando boyshorts are a definite under skirts and for a little more feminine flirtiness, I choose the Eberjey Delirious French brief. Not only are these briefs supporting my post baby voluptuous backside during the day, but they are also so incredibly comfortable to wear to sleep. A new brand that all of us at BL are kind of obsessed with is Vivvos. This colorful brief is designed for comfort (fabric feels like the most comfortable swimsuit) and to stay in place, but is also absolutely adorable. We are not carrying Hanky Panky at launch, but I have to tell you that their boyshort is just to die for and should be a must in all my girlfriend’s closets!
So, while I will always love my thongs I am thrilled to branch out! The boyfriend or brief is certainly not just for Hanes her Way anymore!
Since Mollie and I went to market in February we have been gushing over rompers. Rompers come up daily in our conversations. Whether we saw a girl killing it in a romper around town or Mollie found a cute romper for Maryn to wear or we received new merchandise and there was a romper in that order or talking about where it is appropriate to wear a romper. Basically we love the romper all day, every day!!
Are you asking yourself what is a romper?! Dictionary.com defines romper as:
romp·er [rom-per] –noun
1. a person or thing that romps.
2. Usually, rompers. ( used with a plural verb )
a. a loose, one-piece garment combining a shirt or blouseand short, bloomerlike pants, worn by young children.
b. a similar garment worn by women and girls for sports, leisure activity, etc.
To romp is…
Romp [romp] –verb (used without object)
1. to play or frolic in a lively or boisterous manner.
2. to run or go rapidly and without effort, as in racing.
So besides it being an article of clothing it can mean a person that romps. Don’t you want to be the kind of girl who romps in a romper? I know I want to frolic in a lively manner in my romper all day and all night.
The summer of 2008 I was wearing a romper every other day. I’m not sure if it was my beach mentality from living on Nantucket that summer or it was an easy go to outfit that and I didn’t have to think about matching it to anything but a pair of shoes but I was rocking a romper all summer long. Whether I was going fishing, to the beach, to work, on a bike ride it didn’t matter, I was all about the romper. I’m thrilled the romper has become more popular because now my romper choices are endless.
Here are some of the rompers byLangley will be carrying this fall. Would you wear any of these rompers to happy hour? Under a blazer to go out at night? To Sunday brunch? On a bike ride? To work? We want to know how you will rock the romper this fall.
